At YWCA, we demand a world of equity and human decency. We envision a world of opportunity. We commit ourselves to the work of racial justice. We will get up and continue to do the work until injustice is rooted out, until institutions are transformed, until the world sees women, girls, and people of color the way we do: Equal. Powerful. Unstoppable.
Specific initiatives YWCA of Central Indiana supports and helps advance include:
- The MLK Dream Team, which is the collaboration of a diverse group of volunteers to promote the ideologies of Dr. Martin Luther King.
- The Freedom Bus, which is a mobile exhibit that brings civil rights history to children and others through school visits and at special events throughout the community and is a partnership of the MLK Dream Team, the City of Muncie, MITS, Ball State University, and donors.
- Muncie Black Expo, which strives to be an effective voice and vehicle for the social and economic advancement of African-Americans.
