YWCA is on a mission to eliminate racism, empower women, stand up for social justice, help families and strengthen communities. We’ve been at the forefront of the biggest issues of the day for more than 100 years: from voting rights to civil rights, from affordable housing to pay equity and from violence prevention to health care reform. Specifically, YWCA:
- Works toward increasing the equal protections, opportunities and human rights of women and children, despite color.
- Participates and facilitates racial justice programs and services that increase awareness, and transforms inequities in areas such as employment, housing, and voting.
- Promotes the annual Stand Against Racism campaign, which builds community among those who work for racial justice, raises awareness about racism, and encourages community members to take action for change.
