Black HERstory celebrates extraordinary leaders

We celebrated Black History Month kickoff on the first Saturday in February, but my friend, Dorica Watson, and myself decided we could and should do more. We brought together 80 women and girls to celebrate Black HERstory on the last Saturday of February. The gathering was hosted by YWCA Central Indiana.  It was the first annual Black HERstory luncheon and it was a day dedicated to recognizing the extraordinary Black women who are shaping Muncie and beyond. This event was not just a celebration, but a powerful reminder of the importance of seeing the emerging young leaders who are blazing new trails and thanking the wise women who have already forged the path.
