YWCA Celebrates MLK 2023

We concluded January with a wonderful celebration of the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. MLK festivities started with a well-attended breakfast at Ball State University, where we heard from Dr. Rashida Willard, the university’s new Associate Vice President for Inclusive Excellence. The annual MLK march followed from the L.A. Pittenger Student Center to the Bell Tower on McKinley Avenue. Later that evening, the celebration continued at Union Missionary Baptist Church. Concerned Clergy of Muncie and Delaware County recognized community leaders – Dorica Watson, director of Community Engagement for Open Door Health Services; WaTasha Barnes Griffin, YWCA Central Indiana CEO;  Carl Malone, retired business owner and Deacon Willie Gholar, owner of Gholar  & Gholar Funeral Service, with community service awards.
