Why We March

Later today, hundreds of thousands of individuals will gather in their respective state capitals to send a powerful message not only to the new administration, but to the world that women’s rights are human rights. The mission of this march is as follows:

“We stand together in solidarity with our partners and children for the protection of our rights, our safety, our health, and our families- recognizing that our vibrant and diverse communities are the strength of our country.”

This event is inclusive to any individual seeking to advocate for women.  As stated on the Women’s March website, women’s rights are human rights, regardless of a woman’s race, ethnicity, religion, immigration status, sexual identity, gender expression, economic status, age or disability.

Following this election season, and even more recently the presidential inauguration, it is apparent that the work of our organization is important and necessary moving forward. The YWCA Central Indiana and the community will continue fighting for women and girls together.

Watch for a Facebook Live video stream, between 11:00 am-11:30 am from the Women’s March on Washington – Indianapolis, Indiana location!  We look forward to sharing the experience with all of you.
