Why YWCA?
We know there are a million things for you to do with your time and your money. There are enough nonprofits in Muncie alone to write a book, yet the YWCA finds itself with such an amazing group of supporters. We asked local YW supporters to get their insight of why the YWCA?
“My husband and I feel strongly that helping women in difficult or even dire circumstances is very important. At the YW women and children find refuge and shelter during critical times in their lives. After retiring from Ball State University, I donated much of my professional clothing to help women start rebuilding their lives.”
“Because the YW doesn’t do handouts.. They take women, some with kids, and rebuild them and send them back into the “real” world with the tools to succeed.”
“I love the mission of the YWCA and it’s what drew me to the organization. Then you come in, get to know the staff, and see firsthand what their doing to better the lives of these women and you feel inspired to try and be a part of it as well.”
It is because of supporters such as these three that we are able to continue empowering women, eliminating racism, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. Without this community involvement, there would be hundreds of women homeless or forced to stay in life threatening environments. Consider the YWCA this giving season and help us #LetLoveLive.
