YWCA Central Indiana on Community Connection

The YWCA Central Indiana is one of few area shelters for homeless women and homeless with children. The goal of the organization is to help women get back on their feet not only by being a safe place to stay, but by offering programs such as smoking cessation courses, GED classes, nutrition lessons and exercise programs to their residents. All of the many programs the YWCA offers to the public (like swimming lessons in the warm water pool) are used to raise funds for the services they offer to the women who are staying at the facility.

On Community Connection, we feature Nance Buchert, executive director; Kim Campbell Beasley, president of the board of directors; Christie, a resident; and Johnna Oliver, a resident and employee. The YWCA Central Indiana needs volunteers to fill several capacities and donations of many different items to make their programs and facility work every day.
